The Electoral Commission has confirmed Wednesday 2nd March 2016 as the date for elections for Chairpersons and Councilors for the Municipalities and Kampala Capital City Divisions.
According to a message received by our News desk from the public relations office at electoral commission, polling shall take place at all polling stations within all municipalities in Uganda, and the five (5) divisions of Kampala Capital City, starting at 7:00am and closing at4:00pm.
During these elections, voters are expected to cast ballots for, Municipality/City Division Chairpersons, Municipality/City Division Directly-elected Councilors, and, Municipality/City Division Women Councilors.
Today, the commission conducted elections of youth representatives in Parliament across all the four regions of Uganda, and results are yet to start coming in.
“Please note that the ballot papers for use during elections for the Chairpersons and Councillors of Municipality/City Division will bear the following features:
1. The first column will have the full names of each candidate, in alphabetical order;
2. The second column will have a colour photograph of each candidate;
3. The third column will have the name of the party and symbol, or independent candidates’ symbol;
4. The fourth column will have space where the voter will tick or place a thumbprint as a mark of choice.
