The president of Rwanda, Paul Kagame has hailed his Tanzanian counterpart President John Pombe Magufuli for fighting against corruption unlike any other East African leaders.
H.E Kagame was speaking during a dinner hosted in honor of President Magufuli.
He said; "You must know, first of all, that you are in your brother’s place. Since you were elected, you presence has been refreshing. Your words & deeds reflect our vision.”
Kagame added; “Your stance against corruption is very refreshing. We are committed to working with partners who feel we have to raise our level of dignity because that is what we deserve.”
He thanked H. E Magufuli for joining them for dinner as the country remembered the unfortunate times of genocide. “We thank you for being with us tonight, the same night, 22 years ago when what is not easy to describe happened to our nation. The effects of what happened 22 years ago still ring bells in our mind, hearts and our homes.”
President Kagame is optimistic that; “what happened here 22 years ago will never happen again. Rwandans who rebuilt their lives are as committed as I am to make sure it never happens again."
