Former presidential candidate Dr. Kiiza Besigye has narrated the unfortunate scenes witnessed at his home in Kasangati, leading to his arrest yesterday.

Dr. Besigye who was rushing to report to High Court as part of his Bail conditions said he had prepared a meeting with a section of leaders at his home, only for them to be denied entry.

The iron man insists that his home is private property and the police have no jurisdiction to dictate who or does not access it at any point.

“What happened yesterday was extremely annoying because I had a meeting here with a number of our leaders, they said they had come. I waited until I found out they had been stopped at the main entrance. I tried to find out why they were being stopped, there was no reason given to them.”

Besigye adds; “I decided to go down and find out why my visitors cannot come into my home. Shockingly when I got there, I found that they had even stopped a pickup truck that had left this place in the morning. So when I got there to protest, that’s what you saw being manhandled and eventually taken to Nagalama where I spent the rest of the day.”

What happened at Nagalama

While at Nagalama police station, Besigye told the media that he was approached by officers at midnight who had come to pick him so he could return home but he refused.

“I said I am not going, all of them are prisons, I would rather stay in this one rather than taking me back to the other prison. Then they switched off lights in the whole police station and in the darkness they came and grabbed me from the cells back into the van, and brought back here” Besigye narrated.

Meanwhile, after reporting at High Court this afternoon, Besigye said his condition is to return after 14 days, which he says will come at a time when he will be in Kabale to attend court over another case. He asked Court to differ the dates.

“It has been agreed to differ it to Wenesday 16th November 2016 from 14th November.”

He later visited Crane Bank and made way through town where he was greeted by cheers from his fans.
