President Yoweri Museveni has called upon legislators in the regional parliament EALA to lobby for more security strategies, arguing that Africa is very poor security wise.

Addressing a special East African Legislative Assembly, EALA in Kampala on Tuesday evening, Museveni said Africa could have saved fallen Libyan leader Col. Muammar Gadaffi from US and France backed rebels in 2011, if they had a united strong security force.

Gadaffi was toppled in February 2011 and killed on October 20th the same year.

"United States came and attacked Libya. Libya was messed up. Of course Gaddafi had his own problems but we had dealt with Gaddafi. I had fought Gaddafi twice, in 1972 and 1979. We fought Gaddafi with Tanzania," Museveni told the Legislators. Adding that the alliance of the region will be critical to strengthen nations against the powerful western countries.

H.E Museveni however shocked the audience when he claimed not to be worried about England, calling a small country, but rather cared about China which is bigger than all East African countries combines, South Sudan Inclusive.

“You have America, China, Russia, India, and here you are Uganda, alone facing these people. I don’t have to worry about the small countries like England. China is 3m Sqm of land, the whole of East Africa including South Sudan is now 1m Sqm” Museveni said.

The regional Parliament, EALA starts its sittings in Kampala today morning with first on its agenda the consideration of the Gender Equality and Development bill, Establishment of the East African Court of Justice, Prohibition of Female Genital Mutilation and consideration of a number of reports from various committees.
