The Kampala Capital City Authority, KCCA deputy Lord Mayor Sarah Kanyike has today commissioned newly purchased road equipment at city hall.
KCCA under the Directorate of Engineering and Technical services purchased four road equipment including; two motor graders, one soil compactor both for caterpillar make and one compressor of Solar make.
All this was made at a total cost of Shillings 2,468,328,803. The equipment will be used in maintenance of the road network around the city.
According to Kanyike, the other equipment purchased includes; A crane truck, and a jetting truck both of Isuzu make at a cost of 601,974,640 Shillings and 553,155,200 Shillings respectively.
She added that the crane truck is to be used for maintenance of street lights. “The jetting truck is to be used for unblocking drainages and it will be delivered this week” she said.
“We thank Government for delivering this important equipment. Only 25% of the 2100Km of city roads is paved. When we get such equipment, we can achieve more".
