Makindye West MP Allan Ssewanyana wants Parliament to investigate actions of the Kampala Capital City Authority Minister Betty Kamya in the eviction of vendors.

Minister Kamya was this afternoon presenting Statement on Parkyard Market to the house, when she explained that Park yard market belongs to Nakivubo War Memorial Stadium, and is designated as a car park not market.

She added that efforts to evict vendors started as far back as 1997 but have been resisted. Kamya says that if a country needs over 20yrs to make decision to evict 4,000 people to develop 1.5 acres of land, Uganda has a long way to go.

Kamya said she was proud that the government relocated 5,000 people in a few days, without a gun short, tear gas, serious injury or mayhem.
