Christine Tubo, Kabong woman Member of Parliament has lost her seat, after Court of Appeal sitting in Kampala upheld the judgment by Soroti High court nullifying her victory in the 2016 Parliamentary election.
The panel of three justices of the Court of Appeal comprising of Justice Richard Butera, Justice Owiny Dolo and Justice Kenneth Kakuru in its judgment, maintained that Tubo was elected irregularly.
They declared the Kaabong Woman MP seat vacant and ordered Tubo to pay her rival, Rose Lilly Akello damages and costs of the suit. Tubo ran to the appellant court after Soroti High court nullified her victory for massive voter bribery.
Speaking to Howwe.Biz shortly after the Judgment, Akello said justice has finally been served and dedicated her court victory to the people of Kaabong district.
Akello's lawyer, Bosco Okiror welcomed the judgment, saying they are preparing costs of the suit and damages, which amount to about Shillings 600milllion.
Christine Tubo said she wasn't surprised by the judgment, saying she will come make a comeback.
