We've rounded up all the major feuds from this year and, GOOD LORD, there are a bunch. While some beefs were eventually squashed, most are still alive and well.
Irene Ntale Vs Swangz Avenue
After exiting Muyenga based music label earlier this year, “Stamina Daddy” singer started a fresh war with artistes like Winnie Nwagi and Vinka. She released a diss song titled “Twelageko” where she attacks Swangz Avenue for robbing her money, and mismanaging her career. On Snapchat, Irene Ntale and Winnie Nwagi fired at each other calling themselves all sorts of names which escalated into a beef. The two actually don’t see eye to eye. Recently, at the Kampala City Council Carnival show that was held at Kololo Airstrip, Winnie Nwagi ignored Ntale like they had never met. It’s also rumored that Vinka is one of the reasons why Irene parted ways with Swangz.
Radio and Weasel Vs Ssendi Eddie
This should be regarded as the most “bloody” beef of 2017.It all started at Laftaz lounge during a gathering where artistes had come together to iron out issues regarding music copyright in the local entertainment industry. The artistes wanted to find ways of kicking out Uprs (Uganda performing rights society) from taking lead in affairs affecting artistes. Dembe Fm presenter, Ssendi Eddie sided with Uprs and as he was airing out his issues, Goodlyfe’s singer, Moses Radio grabbed the microphone from him and accompanied him with insults. Ssendi retaliated during the “talk and talk” show where he spent about 25 minutes hurling insults at Radio. During the show, he branded Radio as a rat that can’t even be eaten by a hungry cat.
Alex Muhangi Vs Salvado
When Alex Muhangi was fired from Bukoto based Dinners lounge where he hosted a weekly comedy show, Salvador’s young brother, Toma took charge of the show. This didn’t go down well with Muhangi who accused Salvador of playing dirty so that his brother could replace him. In a Facebook rant, Alex branded them rebels who did all sorts of games to have him fired. He moved to 400 Bar and Restaurant which is a stone throw away from Dinners lounge. Months later, Muhangi didn’t turn up for Salvador’s “Man from Ombokolo” season 2 despite having done free adverts for the former friend.
Frank Gashumba Vs Kabushenga
Motor-mouthed political analyst and businessman, Frank Gashumba together with his brother Kasumba, were arrested in October after they were found in possession of drugs and fake passports. After his bail, Frank Gashumba started a fresh social media war attacking CEO Vision Group, Robert Kabushenga, accusing him of tarnishing his name. The political Analyst labeled Kabushenga as a pig and biased journalist who dances to the tunes of the government, however, until today Kabushenga remains mute about the allegations.
Artistes Vs Uprs
Uganda artistes under their new coalition “Save Uganda Music” headed by Swangz Avenue’s Managing Director, Julius Kyazze united together to kick out copyright company, Uganda Performing Rights Society(Uprs), an organization they accuse of mismanaging their funds and contributing nothing to the industry.
