The well-known football hero came to the rescue of Kenya’s wildlife and visited the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant orphanage in Nairobi, yesterday (Tuesday, 29).

Yaya, who acts as a United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) ambassador, took the cause to heart and spent the day with the baby elephants.

Golden boy to Manchester City and Ivory Coast, Yaya intends to use his position for a good cause and aims to highlight the fight against the illegal ivory trade.

Yaya stated, “Poaching threatens the very existence of the African elephant and if we do not act now we could be looking at a figure in which this iconic species is wiped out.”, via StarAfrica.
