A sad cloud has covered neighboring Kenya after the country’s first lady, Lucy Muthoni Kibaki, H.E Mwai Kibaki died this morning. She was 76 years old.
According to reports, Mrs. Kibaki died at Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London where she has been undergoing treatment.
Kenyans have poured out their hearts on social media in mourning and sending condolence messages to the bereaved family.
Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta led the mourners and tweeted; “It is with deep sense of sadness and loss that I have learnt of the untimely death of the Former First Lady Her Excellency Mrs. Lucy Kibaki. She passed away early this morning while undergoing treatment in Bupa Cromwell Hospital in London.”
He added; “On behalf of all Kenyans & my Government I convey heartfelt condolences & encouragement to His Excellency Hon Mwai Kibaki, family & friends. May the Almighty God rest her soul in Everlasting Peace.”
