Nakawa Grade One Magistrate Noah Ssajjabbi has adjourned to December 20th a case in which Mathew Kanyamunyu and his girlfriend Cynthia Munwangari are accused of murdering a community worker Kenneth Akena.
Also part of the accused is Mathew’s brother Joseph Kayamunyu(40) who the former is said to have communicated with after the incident.
Appearing before Ssajjabbi this morning, the trio looked calm and composed unlike the last time when they made unnecessary gestures.
Today’s appearance attracted relatives from both families of the accused and deceased. Akena’s family was accompanied by Kitgum Municipality MP Beatrice Anywar and she told journalists after the court session that she was satisfied that the process of ensuring their own brother receives justice was going on well.
The magistrate was forced to adjourn the case to December 20th after being informed by the state prosecutor Racheal Nabwire that they needed more time because investigations into the case have no yet been completed.
Prosecution alleges that the accused shot Akena at Lugogo Mall on November 12th before rushing him to the hospital where he later died.
