Masaka tycoon Emmanuel Lwasa was arrested last week and spent almost two days behind bars. He was later released on police bond after settling debts worth 16 million Ugandan shillings.
Now, promoter Abitex claims that Lwasa is being targeted by mafias. He believes the Masaka tycoon can settle such debts even without police intervention.
"He was arrested by mafias. They are individuals who just want to bring people down. Lwasa has the means to settle such a debt even without police intervention, but their intention was to show people that he is broke," he partly said in an interview with a local television.
Lwasa has remained silent since his release from police custody.
