Earlier this month, Elias Nalukoola was endorsed as the NUP party flag bearer for the Kawempe North MP position in the upcoming by-election.
Since then, he has faced criticism from many who claim he will be a disappointment to Bobi Wine and the National Unity Platform, just like other politicians who are believed to have betrayed the party.
However, Nalukoola insists that he is a credible and reliable leader. He says he would never go against his party or the residents of Kawempe North.
"I promise the people of Kawempe and all NUP supporters that I will do my best and not disappoint them," he explained.
Nalukoola further emphasized that despite his early involvement with the Democratic Party, he is now a full member of the National Unity Platform. He views his party ticket as a vote of confidence in him.
"I have a strong foundation and was never part of the DP Bloc, even though I was once a member of DP. The NUP flag I carry stands for trust," he said.
Nalukoola will be contesting against FDC’s Kalifah Aganaga, NRM’s Farida Nambi, and other independent candidates.
