It is alleged that the legislator is battling stomach complications, with unconfirmed rumors suggesting she was poisoned by her political critics.
Shamim Malende has been unwell for over a year now. She has been in and out of hospitals in Uganda, Kenya, and other European countries, but her health continues to deteriorate every day.
The legislator is serving her first term in Parliament after being elected on the NUP ticket in the 2021 general election.
Different people, including Nana Mwafrika and the current Minister for Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) and Metropolitan Affairs, Hajjat Minsa Kabanda, have already expressed interest in challenging Malende for her position.
