Alex Luswa Luwemba defied his President, Robert Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, and the National Unity Platform (NUP) when he chose to contest as an independent candidate in the Kawempe North elections.
His announcement as an independent candidate automatically made him a non-member of NUP. Luwemba, however, insists he is still a loyal member of the biggest opposition party.
He explained that he has not lost his NUP party card, just like Chairman Nyanzi Sentamu, who has never lost his NRM party card.
"I am still a loyal member of NUP. I have not lost my party card, just like Chairman Nyanzi, who has not lost his NRM party card; he is a member of NRM," he explained.
Alex Luwemba insists that his win in the Kawempe North elections will be for NUP, and the celebrations will take place at the party headquarters in Kavule, Makerere.
The elections will take place this week on Thursday.
