Mabel Namala yesterday beat 16 contestants and was crowned Miss Tourism Buganda 205-2016.
First runner-up was Nakazi Gloria and second runner-up was Namatovu Camilla who was also crowned Miss Popularity. Miss Talent was Sheila Mazzi Mariam.
Excited Mabel revealed that it was a long journey but she was glad to have completed this step with all her friends in the race.
Tribute was also paid to fallen Miss Tourism Buganda 2014, Barbara Nakiwolo, who was killed in a car accident earlier this month. Norah Atim, the Miss Tourism Northern Uganda 2014, who also died in that crash, was also remembered.
Notable names in attendance were Prince Wasajja, Minister of Tourism, Wildlife and Antiquites Maria Mutagamba and Zahara Muhammed, the newly-crowned Miss Uganda and her entourage.
