The Uganda police force is yet to transfer the body of an American tourist found dead in Bwana Tembo Safari lodge in Murchison Falls National Park, to Mulago Hospital mortuary.
The body was over the weekend still lying in the 4th Division Barracks in Gulu town, a day after it was recovered by Police.
According to police reports, the 61-year-old Montie Guy Watson, a resident of Tex City was on Saturday morning found dead in his guest room at Bwana Tembo Safari lodge in Nwoya district where he checked in on February 13th, 2018.
Police were by press time waiting for Dr. Moses Byaruhanga, the Director of Police Health Services to transfer the body to Mulago National Referral Hospital where a postmortem will be conducted.
According to Denis Okello the Nwoya District Police Commander, the deceased was in the company of a black tourist after being left behind by other tourists who had left for Kidepo National Park.
However, it is still unclear whether the black tourist is a Ugandan citizen but Police says he was the one who asked the Hotel to break into Watson's room when he failed to show up for breakfast in the morning.
The Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema, says the black tourist is helping Police investigations into the death of the American tourist, while unconfirmed reports indicate that blood stains were found in his bathroom.
Tom Okello Obong, the Assistant Director of Uganda Wildlife Authority in charge of Murchison Falls National Park is also yet to comment on the incident as he couldn't be reached on phone.
