The body of 55-year-old James Wandegeyi, a resident of Wakisi Division in Njeru municipality has been recovered by police from a sugarcane plantation after he went missing over the weekend.
It is believed that Wandegeyi was killed on Sunday night before his body was dumped in the sugarcane plantation next to his home.
Police indicates that the deceased's body was found with injuries on the face, hands and back indicating that there was scuffle before he was killed.
Wandegeyi’s son, Abed Masaba, says he also received a phone call from his son (Masaba’s son) notifying him that his father had been killed and dumped in a sugarcane plantation.
The Njeru District Police Commander Christopher Ruhunde says they received information about a suspected case of murder.
“We received a case of suspected murder of Wandegeyi. The body had bruises, meaning that he was beating and this was cause of death” he said.
Ruhunde cautioned members of the public to be careful about where they move and who they are with. He also emphasized that one should inform their family members before leaving home, about their intended destination.
