Sadness and grief have struck the family of Maria Nagirinya an NGO worker who went missing two days ago only to be discovered dead this afternoon.
Nagirinya’s body was discovered by residents, near a swamp at Nakitutuli along the Mukono-Kayunga road in Nama Sub County, covered with dry grass and had cuts on the head.
According to reports, Nagirinya, a project manager at Community Integrated Development Initiative (CIDI), a Kampala-based non-governmental Organization was kidnapped by uknown along with her together with the driver at the gate of her residence in Lungujja near Busega in Wakiso District.
Familoy members and friends say Nagirinya was abducted as she was waiting outside her gate.
This morning, Police recovered the deceased’s vehicle a Spacio registration no.UBA 570V abandoned at Kitooro zone in Nateete, Rubaga division.
Her family, together with police have been searching for her whereabouts in vain. Nagirinya’s friends and colleagues have also been searching for her using social media and have since condoled with the family.
“RIP Maria. You will always be remembered for your good heart towards young people. May your soul Continue to RIP. To all friends who helped in searching for Maria thanks very much for taking off your time. God will reward you abundantly, we have lost Maria but we are still with her in spirit” a friend wrote on social media.
Nagirinya was kidnapped and murdered along with her driver only identified as Ronnie.
