The Police in Kyengera in collaboration with area residents have launched a manhunt for a one Dennis Byaruhanga, who allegedly hacking his wife, Peace Kiconco with a machete.
Patrick Onyango the Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson says that Byaruhanga aged 50, is reportedly on the run after hacking his 24-year-old wife on Thursday night after a domestic wrangle.
Onyango in his statement says Byaruhanga fled thinking he had killed Kiconco after cutting her several times with a machete.
The incident which happened at Kinawa Cell, Kyengera Township, Wakiso District, left residents wondering what could have prompted Byaruhanga to cut his wife since they looked happy in their relationship.
Byaruhanga had a misunderstanding with his girlfriend Peace Kiconco, aged 24 they quarreled, he got a panga and cut Kiconco. He thought she had died and ran.
Good Samaritans rushed Kiconco to Mulago hospital in a critical condition and her sister one Phiona has reportedly told police that she was improving after being attended to by doctors.
Officers at Kyengera police station have rallied residents to participate in the hunt for Byaruhanga to face charges of attempted murder. Upon visiting the crime scene, police recovered a blood-stained machete.
Police are now searching for Byaruhanga a case of attempted murder have been opened at Kyengera police stations.
