The police in Kassanda are hunting for assailants who shot a businessman to death and robbed of him unknown amounts of money and items.
The deceased is Magala Erias alias Mangele a 36-year-old Gold dealer and resident of Lugingi village, Lugingi parish, Kijuna sub-county in Kassanda district.
The occurred on Thursday 14/4/2022 at about 6 pm in Biwalwe LC1 Kalata parish Bukuya town council Kassanda district.
According to Racheal Kawala PRO Wamala, preliminary investigations indicate that the deceased Magala Erias was coming from the gold processing area of Musa Mubiru where he has been working as a gold buyer.
He was driving his vehicle registration number UBF 575Q Premio heading to his home in Lugingi village, but reached in the swamp along Kanyogoga - Bukuya road, the victim met unknown assailants who shot him dead.
Kawala says the police were informed and immediately responded to the scene. Exhibits of cartridge casings have been recovered at the scene and will be submitted for further analysis.
The deceased’s body was taken to Mityana hospital mortuary for postmortem, as inquiries into the matter continue.
