Police in Kikuube District have arrested two suspects for robbing 1.8 million shillings from a local businessman.

The suspects, Edward Muguta and Asimwe Mugisha, are both residents of Kyangwali sub-county in Kikuube district.

The victim, Richard Mbabazi, a resident of Nyakasozi village in Kasozi parish in Kyangwali sub-county was attacked on Monday night at 11:00 pm.

Mbabazi was reportedly stopped near Nyakasozi trading center by goons armed with machetes and ordered to surrender all the money from the day's sales.

After grabbing his cash, the thugs hacked him on the head before vanishing from the scene. Mbabazi was later rescued and rushed to Kituti health center IV by a good Samaritan who heard him screaming for help. He later reported the matter to the police after identifying his attackers.

Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson says when police received information about the incident, they immediately swung into action and started pursuing the suspects.

He says that the suspects were arrested from Kyangwali trading center on Tuesday afternoon and immediately whisked to Kikuube central police station where they are currently being held on robbery charges.
