A 30-year-old man in Bubalagala village, Bukatuube sub-county, Mayuge District took his own life after betting on the outcome of the December 17th soccer match between Morocco and Croatia.
He had sold his land in order to place a large bet, hoping to win a significant return, but was disappointed when Morocco lost the game.
Tibinuma had hoped to win 2 million shillings by betting 500,000 shillings on the football match between Morocco and Croatia.
Despite this, he did not lose hope and decided to bet the remaining 300,000 shillings on the world cup finals, hoping for France to defeat Argentina. Unfortunately, this did not happen, and Tibinuma was left feeling frustrated and disappointed. In a fit of frustration, he drank poison and died.
Busoga East police spokesperson, Diana Nandawula says the body of the deceased has been taken to the hospital for a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death. The police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his suicide.
