The decision was arrived at the meeting of the NUSUF committee in charge of evaluating the bids to host the Games placed by interested universities. Although this is also part of its centenary celebrations, the August 3 meeting held at Principal’s Hall, UCU won the bid over Kampala International University (KIU).
The event that will have different disciplines such as football, basketball, rugby, swimming, darts, table tennis, tennis, volleyball, athletics, netball, scrabble, wood ball, karate, taekwondo and chess among others are working to work upon different fields so as they acquire the maximum standard needed.

The sports department has started serious recruitment of students to participate in the games, especially, swimming, wood ball, table tennis and scrabble. Furthermore, the department urges students to take advantage of this coming tournament to exploit their potential.
UCU are self-reliant that they have the capacity to host the games even better than 2007 since they now have the experience.
The 2007 six-day championship that was officially opened by former world 3000m steeplechase champion Dorcus Inzikuru, who was also accompanied by her husband Bosco Acidri was one of the events that UCU has set a record in terms of organizing.

The last edition of the inter-university games that was held at Ndejje University, Luweero in 2011 district attracted over 21 institutions and the hosts were the overall champions with 12 gold medals in different disciplines.

With the UCU canons bowing out of the FUBA basketball league, they now need to focus on winning this title in order to salvage something in their disappointing year as they lost out to Falcons in the playoffs. The UCU canons missed out on the winner’s medal in the 2011 games which were held at Ndejje University.
