Musician Bebe Cool has praised comedian Hannington Bugingo for standing by his word and demanding that President Museveni address the issue of copyright law among other things.
Bebe Cool explained that he personally organized a meeting between Bugingo and Museveni. They discussed for over three hours, and Bugingo presented his paper of demands to the President.
Bebe Cool alleged that Museveni recommended the paper to various people, including General Salim Saleh, the Speaker of Parliament, the Prime Minister, and the Judicial Review Commission.
The Gagamel boss believes that's where the fight to bring the copyright law started and that, in the end, artists will achieve their goals.
"Hannington Bugingo desired to organize, so I told him to write down all his concerns and address them to the President. I called for the meeting with the President, and they discussed with Hannington Bugingo for over three hours. The President recommended Bugingo's paper for review to different people, including the Prime Minister, Speaker of Parliament, and General Salim Saleh, and it's where the copyright war started," he partly said in an interview with a local television station.
Bebe Cool also praised Museveni for enabling a favorable environment for artists by bringing peace to the country.
"The President has done much for the music industry and brought peace to the country, providing a favorable environment for us musicians," he partly said.
