Musician Azawi has frequently called on the government to do more to support the arts this year.

She wants the government to partner with companies like Swangz Avenue to empower young artists and creatives.

Azawi explained that Swangz Avenue is a reputable company with a proven history of nurturing artists into major contributors to the African entertainment industry. She argued that the government should prioritize partnerships with such companies instead of focusing solely on individual artists.

"The government should partner with companies like Swangz Avenue to empower young artists. These companies already have a proven track record of grooming young talent into big stars. I think they should put more emphasis on supporting companies rather than individuals," she explained.

Azawi also believes that the government should invest more in arts education instead of offering financial handouts to artists. She cited Douglas Lwanga's school for creatives as an example of an initiative that deserves support.

"People like Douglas Lwanga have a school for creatives, but it is never supported by the government," she added.
