Musician Bebe Cool is renowned for releasing his annual "Bebe Cool List," which highlights the best musicians and songs in Uganda.
This year, the singer unveiled a comprehensive list featuring outstanding artists and tracks, with Elijah Kitaka's "Dawa" and Azawi's "Masanvu" among the top entries.
However, Bebe Cool expressed concern over the decline in the music industry, stating that 2024 was the most underwhelming year for music since the inception of the Bebe Cool List.
The Gagamel boss emphasized that the discussion should focus on the industry's direction, identifying challenges, and proposing solutions rather than attributing blame.
"Notably, 2024 has been the most underwhelming year for music since the inception of the Bebe Cool List. This assertion is open to discussion, and I urge those participating in the debate to focus on the music industry's trajectory, pinpointing tangible challenges, and offering constructive solutions rather than resorting to blame-shifting," he explained.
Bebe Cool called on artists and stakeholders in the music industry to prioritize breaking through to international audiences. He expressed his desire for Ugandan music to compete on the same platforms as Nigerian and South African music, which would elevate the industry as a whole.
