The gunfire exchange started after police raided the suspect’s hideout in Katale Lunya.
Police managed to pick up one of the suspects who had earlier barricaded himself inside the house with a pistol.
An officer who spoke to us on condition of anonymity says they got wind of the suspect’s hideout following the recent murder of two armed robbers in Mubende during a botched raid on an MTN shop.
By the time of filling this story, the Flying squad team had managed to break into the suspect’s house. Red Pepper Online has established that the deceased robbers are part of the gang that has been targeting supermarkets, phone shops and Mobile money centers in and around Kampala City.
It’s claimed that even last night this particular group robbed a supermarket in Bakuli. Police has not yet commented on the incident. - via RP
