Young entertainers Alvan Jeriel Lakor and Abigail Joyce Lakor will hold a charity concert for children with cancer at Serena Hotel on 2nd September.
Alvan Lakor, 9, is an expert in playing the piano while Abigail, 7, has an angelic voice that melts hearts. The concert proceeds will help the young children diagnosed with cancer.
While speaking to the press at the Uganda Cancer Institute, the big-hearted children said, "We saw children with cancer, and it hurt us so much. We decided to compose a song for them titled cancer."
Also, Joyce Balagadde, head of Pediatrics Oncology department at Mulago Cancer Institute explained that cancer is real and they register an estimate of 7000 children per year.
“As an institute, we are grateful to Alvan and Abigail because the proceeds will help us solve some of the barriers at the institute like special scans, and running out of drugs. We also only have one radiotherapy machine which hinders our effectiveness. Leukaemia, cancer of the muscles and kidney cancer are the most common types among children. It is hard detecting cancer in children because it imitates symptoms of other diseases like malaria and it is not preventable like that in adults, but it can be cured if detected early, " Balagadde concluded.
The charity concert organisers also announced that gospel singers, Levixone and Exodus will also perform at the charity concert.
