Musician Elijah Kitaka is currently the talk of town, with his hit song "Ekyange" topping charts and gaining popularity across the country.

The singer, however, has also received criticism from various people who have accused him of plagiarizing Fred Kanyike's song.

Kitaka has since defended himself, explaining that he sought and received permission from Fred Kanyike's estate to redo the song.

"Music is art. I sampled a song and reached out to Fred Kanyike’s family, who gave me the go-ahead," he explained in an interview with a local television station.

Elijah Kitaka added that he has since made the song relatable to today's lifestyle and is pleased that "Kadongo Kamu" is being welcomed by today's audiences.

"Music is a feeling, and I love it. Some music, including Kadongo Kamu, is really good. When I listened to the beat, it felt old, but I am the new element, making it more relatable," he added.
