For the few years she has been in the industry, new star Vilani, better known as 'The Sweet Malaika gal' has turned heads with her unique fashion styles.
The upcoming singer, who is signed to Ugawood Entertainment, continues to do everything to make an impact on the music scene.
Vilani applies her impressive artistic showcases and it's no wonder she's making herself a name wherever she goes.
Vilani sat down for an exclusive interview with one of our reporters. Read on;
QN: Who is Vilani?
Vilani is a female musician , real names Nabukeera Vilani, born and raised in Mukono district.
QN: How many songs do you have?
I have three songs so far. My debut song was "Radio", then "Sweet malaika" and the third is called “Am shy” that I have just released.
QN: What style of music do you do?
I do afro-pop music.
QN: When did you start your music journey
I started way back from school. Then, when I heard about auditions in Ugawood Entertainment, around April 2018, I decided to try my luck and by God’s grace, I won.
I went through preparations until January 2019 when I released my first song “Radio”.
QN: Do you write your own music?
Aaah, I penned my first song “Radio” but “Sweet Malaika” and “Am shy” were written by Sean Ruba.
QN: What do you think of the Ugandan music industry at the moment?
At the moment, the music industry is really tough, you need to be really so smart to make a breakthrough.
QN: When going onto stage, do you use anything to boost your performance?
(Laughs)..Seriously, I don’t use anything, am always sober, the stage is my office. I really need to be careful when handling my fans. And most artistes are addicted to drugs which is deadly.
QN: Are you dating?
No please, I'm single and contented. Right now I'm concentrating on my music career.
QN: Are you signed to any music label?
I'm signed under UGAWOOD ENTERTAINMENT located at Freedom City, Namasuba, off Entebbe Road.
QN: What do you do in your free time?
Not so specific but I love watching movies(translated), and also doing my house chores.
QN: Who dresses you?
I'm dressed by FANTASY located at Freedom city. I love their creativity.
QN: What is your best moment?
I still remember the day is I was signed as an artist by Ugawood Entertainment and since then, my life has really changed for the better.
QN: What is your worst moment?
I was attacked by goons who smashed my face yet I was supposed to attend a TV interview. It really messed me up.
QN: Where do you see yourself in 5 years
If God blesses me with more years, I will be one of the hottest musicians in Uganda.
QN. Any last words to your fans?
