Police in Rakai has arrested one suspect following the murder of a 5-year-old child.
The victim is Atuhairwe Allen alias Kyakwera Hellen a Pupil at Kasankala Model Primary school and r/o Kasankala Trading centre, Kasankala Parish, Kasankala sub county Rakai district.
It is alleged that Atuhairwe left her home to go and play with other children in the neighbourhood.
According to her mother Kyalimpa Peace, the child left home at around 1600hrs and was playing in the company of two other children who were younger than her in age.
However, at about 1730hrs, Kyalimpa heard the other two young children crying and came rushing to see what had happened.
Unfortunately, her daughter was missing. After searching for a while, she rushed to the town centre where they used a loudspeaker to make an announcement.
Muhammad Nsubuga the Greater Masaka PRO says the child was discovered dead at 1930hrs, and her body had been dumped in an unfinished house in the same trading centre.
A team of police officers from CPS Rakai including SOCO and a doctor from Rakai hospital visited the scene.
The officers arrested one suspect who is currently detained at CPS Rakai as inquiries continue.
