Bunyoro is Uganda's Oil region found east of Lake Albert and is one the areas where music has smoothly waved since the early days of Omukama Kabalega. Music made in Bunyoro has been in the dusty cupboards for long but is starting to see a green light of action with a number of young hardworking musicians emerging. Here are some of the faces from bunyoro who have wrestled hard to raise the flag.
IGME FAMILY
Igme band is one of the longest yet shining gospel music group in the region. Igme has enjoyed moments of success since it's birth in the early 90's. The group is comprised of about 10 members with David King, Robert Prince and Darlson as the main acts. Igme is responsible for songs like Ekikaijo, Obugenyi, Caroline to mention a few.
FIGO WEST
He is currently Bunyoro's leading artiste, Many refer to him as Bunyoro's Chameleone. With freewheeling melodies and fine music, Figo west has earned himself various recognitions and nominations in the Ugandan music scene . He has had a fast paced growth since his major breakthrough and his songs like Jege jege, Fellistar are delight to hear.
METHOD
He is another artiste making statements in the region, His ticket to fame was ' Faridah ' a song that won him thousands of hearts, though Method sings in Runyoro he spends much of his time in Kampala and is making efforts to stamp a mark in the central region.
