The minister of state for health, Hon. Sarah Opendi has revealed that a total of 830 abortions are carried out daily in Uganda.
Hon. Achieng was this morning addressing new members of parliament during their orientation on republic health at parliament.
The minister added that 'One out of 4 women die because of abortion every day in Uganda.
Abortion is illegal in Uganda. Most women die due to botched abortions in some fake clinics with unqualified physicians.
Meanwhile, speaking at the same event, Speaker Rt. Hon. Rebecca Kadaga asked her fellow legislators to join her in a campaign for boat ambulances for island constituencies. Women continue to die in areas that have no access to roads, where they have to use boats to get to nearby health centers.
She called on members to ensure that people have power. She explains that legislators are complaining that the population is big but people go to sleep early.
The orientation was organized by the ministry of health.
