The Kampala capital city authority Executive Director Jennifer Musisi and the authority Lord Mayor, Erias Lukwago have been summoned by the Presidential Affairs committee over delayed payment of Umar Nasoro Ssekamate the original owner of the land where USAFI market sits.

Also to be discussed in its first meeting scheduled for Tuesday next week, is the status of the Katwe based market which has failed to attract vendors, with even the few that had signed up leaving for the streets.

In April 2015, KCCA took over USAFI market after signing a 39bn shillings deal with Ssekamate who previously owned the land measuring 6.2 acres.

The Presidential Affairs Committee vice chairperson, Susan Amero, says KCCA should explain why it has delayed to pay Ssekamate his money, despite the fact that parliament approved a supplementary budget of Shillings 7 billion as partial payment for the business man.

Amero also says KCCA should work out a plan to keep vendors in the market, noting that the 6500 Shillings paid by the vendors daily affects their income.

Adjumani Woman MP, Jessica Ababiku, explains that there is need to debate how the market can be beneficial to the vendors.
