The Democratic Party, DP has opened up its legal offices to help poor Ugandans in pursuit of justice.
Addressing the media in Kampala today, Kenneth Paul Kakande the party publicity secretary said it has come to their attention that there are so many Ugandans suffering as a result of delayed justice. Justice delayed is justice denied.
He added; “Many cases continue to haunt our criminal justice system. The Ivan Kamyuka stabbing at a dance club, Joan Kagezi's murder, the shooting of Robinah Kiyingi, the murder of an employee of Desh Kananura, and recently the killing of Kenneth Akena.”
Kakande says that these are cases that demand attention and the party can safely characterize these unsolved murders as evidences demanding verdicts.
“Therefore today we have opened up a Book and call upon all Ugandans who have been denied justice pursuant to such cases to come and register such cases with us.”
“We are going to aid this process by providing pro bono legal services to ensure justice through a team led by our Legal Advisor and other assembled Lawyers.”
According to Kakande, this is in line with the party’s longstanding commitment to the rule of law, truth and justice.
