Thousands of mourners have flocked Kanyogoga village in Kalungu district, for the final sendoff of former Buganda Katikkiro and Central Government Minister Jehoash Mayanja Nkangi.
Mourners started forming lengthy lines as early as 6am amid tight security, enduring security screening processes by Police and Uganda Peoples Defence Forces-UPDF, to access the burial site. These comprise of locals, politicians, cultural and religious leaders, among others.
The former Katikkiro of Buganda, Justice and constitutional affairs minister, Finance minister and Chairman of Uganda Land Commission, died on Monday at Nakasero Hospital Kampala, where he had been admitted for suspected pneumonia at an age of 85.
His remains arrived at Kanyogoga village in Kyamulibwa Sub County, Kalungu district last night ahead of his burial today.
By press time, a requiem mass led by West Buganda Diocesan Bishop Katumba Tamale was underway.
