Parliament will on Friday hold a special sitting to honor the late Hon. Cyrus Amodoi, the Toroma County legislator.

Hon. Amodoi died in last night’s fatal accident at Kitigoma on Jinja road. The same accident claimed lives of 9 other people.

The house, chaired by deputy speaker Rt. Hon. Jacob Oulanya held a moment of silence before the sitting commenced in honor of their lost colleague and the other people who lost their lives in the same unfortunate incident.

The accident occurred when a Fuso truck Reg. No. AN 447X from Jinja lost control and rammed into two taxis registration number UAW 200W and UAL 278F which were heading to the East.

According to Parliament’s publicist Chris Obore, the MP was rushing to Katakwi district for the belated international women's day celebrations. He explains that the MP decided to travel by taxi, since he had dispatched his vehicle to the constituency to facilitate preparations for the celebrations.

The driver of taxi number UAW 200W identified as Edwards Francis Mafabi, the Chairperson Mbale/Kampala Multiple Taxi Ltd, was one of those killed in the accident.

Also killed in the accident are Peter Shimiyu, the Secretary Mbale District Service Commission-DSC and the Engineer of Nabumali town council.
