The National Unity Platform (NUP) party has endorsed Counsel Elias Nalukoola as its flag bearer for the Kawempe North MP position.
Following weeks of vetting and other processes, including a public debate, the National Unity Platform, through its elections management committee, announced Nalukoola as the flag bearer.
The announcement was made by the chairperson of the elections management committee, Mercy Walukaaba.
He emerged as the best candidate out of ten, scoring more than seventy percent in the vetting process.
Speaking after the endorsement, Nalukoola thanked the party for trusting him with the ticket and pledged to continue the struggle for a better Uganda.
"I wish to express my heartfelt appreciation to the National Unity Platform for endorsing me and showing faith in me as a person. This is not only an opportunity but also a challenge to serve and to continue the battle against dictatorship," he stated.
The Kawempe North MP by-election will take place on the 13th of March this year.
The by-election is being held to replace the late MP Muhammad Ssegirinya, who passed away in January this year after a long battle with illness.
