The chief justice of Uganda, Bart Magunda Katureebe has called for honesty among citizens if the country is to be saved from dishonesty and corruption.
His lordship Katureebe made the call during Palm Sunday prayers of the Association of Mbararara Diocese (AMDA), at Kitante primary school in Kampala.
He reminded Christians that just as Judas was tempted with money by Jesus’ killers, several Ugandans tempt many judges with huge sums of money to revert judgments.
He also called upon parents to be better examples to their children and guide them in line with the Catholic Church teachings, explaining that 75% Uganda’s population is the youth and children below 35, making it the work of parents to shape them for a better future.
The chief Justice called for more focus on a girl child, revealing that 60% of all cases today are defilement cases. He cautioned parents to check their children’s beds to ensure they sleep home every night and be weary of their girls’ whereabouts after school.
Meanwhile, the main celebrant, Bishop Lambert Bainomugisha of Hoima Diocese also reminded the youths that the church has too much hope in them, and so does the world. He prayed that the lent period has positively changed everyone’s life, and this week’s Easter mysteries are not history, but live in every souls of all believers.
Mass was attended by Brig. Joseph Musanyufu, Prof. Kabwegyere Tarsis, and a section of members of parliament including Gerald Karuhanga, Mwijukye Francis, and Martial Andrew among others.
