Police are investigating circumstances under which an inmate suddenly died in a cell at Ngogwe Government prison in Buikwe district.
Police spokesperson, AIGP Asan Kasingye identifies the deceased as Ronald Ssempija 19, a Murundi fisherman of Sengi Landing Site, Ssebukunja sub county, Buikwe district.
Kasingye explains that Ssempija was found dead in Ngogwe government prison at 9am, on June 25th 2017. It is reported that the deceased was previously arrested on charges of Burglary and theft vide CRB 30/2017 of Senyi police station, and while digging, escaped from a prison warder who later rearrested and tortured him, something that could have resulted into his death.
Police visited the scene and moved his body to Kawolo Hospital Mortuary for postmortem as inquiries commence, at Ngogwe police post.
