The Inspector General of Police, General Kale Kayihura has appointed Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Abbas Byakagaba the new Director of Human Resource Development in Uganda Police Force.
General Kayihura announced Byakagaba's appointment in the latest redeployment contained in a radio message issued on Saturday night. The position has been vacant since the murder of Andrew Felix Kaweesi in Kampala on March 17th this year.
Byakagaba has been the commandant of the Police Senior Command College Bwebajja. In the same message, Kayihura appointed Moses Kafeero to replace Byakagaba at the Police Senior Command College. Kafeero was in charge of the College before he left for training in Rwanda a year ago.
The police chief also appointed AIGP Haruna Isabirye as the Director Welfare and Production replacing Elizabeth Muwanga who retired a month ago. Isabirye has been commanding the Anti-Stock Theft Unit-ASTU. Fenny Kyomukama, who has been a commissioner in the Field Force Police Unit, is the new ASTU commandant.
In the other changes, Kayihura appointed AIGP Andrew Sorowen, who has been Director in charge of Special Duties, as the Police Sports Liaison Officer with the Education and Sports Ministry.
Kayihura says the changes take immediate effect.
