Ugandan security forces are working closely with their Kenyan counterparts to verify if any Ugandan citizens are part of the people that dies in the Kenyan Al-Shabab attack that started on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media this afternoon, police spokesperson CP Fred Enanga said efforts are underway to identify any Ugandans were affected and advise on how to bring them back home. "We are working closely with our counterparts to very whether any Ugandan citizens could have been affected by the incident, and advise those planning to travel to Nairobi or other areas to contact security and travel agencies for further guidance" Enanga noted.
He added that although there are no active threats on Uganda, police reaffirms their commitment yo tacking terrorism and have raised security level of activities amidst a widerbrange of interventions that will enable reduce further the risks to the public.
"We would also like to urge the public that everyone has a role to play in confronting terrorism by remaining alert and report any concerns to the police on toll free numbers, 0800199699 or 0800122291" he added.
So far, the Kenyan Red cross puts the death toll at 24. Al-Shabab has claimed the attack on Dusit complex.
