Hajji Isaac Kawooya the Koboko Resident District Commissioner has been killed in accident at Mpambire swamp in Mpigi district along Kampala-Masaka highway.
Hajji Kawooya died along with five other people. These are; Hajji Abdallah Muwonge, 54, driver of the vehicle and resident of Nyamitanga village in Mbarara District, Mukaaka Mali, 56, Rwandan national, Aharizira Christine, 25, resident of Ntungamo, Mansuli Abbey Ssemanda, resident of Mbarara Municipality and unidentified four-year-old child.
Eyewitnesses say the six were travelling in a Toyota Premio car Registration Number UAZ 417B heading to Kampala when a Tanzania bound trailer registration number T 881 GNG swayed from its lane and rammed into the Premio at around 8:00 am this morning.
Joseph Musana, the acting Katonga Regional Police Spokesperson says police have towed the trailer which paralyzed traffic on the highway as investigations to establish the cause of the accident continues.
According to Musana, two occupants of the trailer are on the run.
