The Police in Mityana have arrested a teacher identified as Geoffrey Mugula, 30 for allegedly defiling a ten-year-old girl.
Mugula, a teacher at Maanyi parents school was dragged to police when a girl who had been put under his care for coaching came back crying that she had been raped.
The victim’s mother said when her daughter broke off for second term holidays and her performance had declined, she requested Mugula to offer her private lessons.
The lessons started this week, at the suspect’s shop. However, yesterday, the girl returned home crying and told the mother that she had been defiled.
The victim’s Mother told police that the teacher sent the victim to his house to pick past examination papers, followed and defiled her.
Norbert Ochom the Wamala Regional Police Spokesperson says the matter which was reported at Maanyi Police station has since been forwarded to the Mityana Police Station for investigations.
“With the minor’s narration, the teacher has been arrested and charged with aggravated defilement and soon after the medical report is made, we will have to send him to court for trial,” Ochom says.
According to Ochom, police have been holding community meetings and cautioning parents to avoid neglecting their children during the holidays.
