One person identified as Victor Olwenyi has been arrested by officers from Jinja police station on allegations of assaulting his wife, Immaculate Nyamwenge, the Grade One Magistrate of Njeru.
According to the reports, Olwenyi slapped Nyamwenge on Thursday night at their home in block H, Walukuba-Masese division, Jinja municipality after he found clothes of another man in the house.
Nyamwenge, in her statement recorded at Jinja CPS, notes that Olwenyi is a violent man and their love life has been marred with mistrust which prompted her to file for divorce early this year.
“We have three children and legalized our marriage through a church wedding in 2017, but my husband never trusts me and I based on such grounds to file for divorce early this year,” she says.
Vincent Irama, the Jinja CPS commander says the suspect is being charged with domestic violence and assault.
Adding that the couple is receiving free marital counselling services from the police’s child and family protection unit to pave way for the couple’s reconciliation.
