Authorities are searching for two Finance Trust Bank loan officers who have been abducted in Arua.

The duo is identified as Mubarak Asiimwe and Johnson Sempiira who were reportedly picked up from the bank branch on Thursday by their client identified as Atanansi Acidri, a resident of Pajulu.

Acidri allegedly drove to the bank and walked out with the two loan officers, before driving them away in his car. However the action did not appear suspicious until later in the evening when the two called to tell their manager that they had been detained at a place called Aruu, in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The captor added that Acidri has been bickering with the bank for the last two years, seeking to recover up to 50 million Shillings that was obtained from the sale of his land to recover a loan

Acidri reportedly requested for another loan of 45 million Shillings from the bank. He alleges that it's for this reason that he reportedly picked the loan officers to take pictures of the land in Logiri Sub County, near the border with DRC, that he was using as security to guarantee the loan.

Josephine Angucia the West Nile Police Spokesperson said that Acidri, a renowned businessman both in Arua town and in DRC made arrangements with the Territorial Administrator in DRC to dispatch police to arrest the loan officers and have them detained.
He would later order the two abductees to call their manager Sunday Kevin and inform him about the development. Acidri demanded that the manager takes the money to the point in DRC where the two were held before they are released. This prompted Sunday to report the matter to the police and later to Arua Resident District Commissioner Nahori Oyaa.
They currently in a negotiation meeting at Aruu’ in DRC to have the two loan officers released.
