6 people have been confirmed dead and three rescues while at least 10 more others are still stuck in a building that collapsed on Wednesday afternoon in Jinja town.

5 dead bodies were retrieved from the ruin, while the 6th one was rescued but died at the hospital.

The building which is at junction of Gohkale road and school Lane in Magwa parish, Jinja town, collapsed at around 3:30Pm on Wednesday, killing builders.
Eyewitnesses who include a neighbor whose house survived being hit by the building says his wife and children were inside their house while he in the friends engaged in a conversation only to hear a loud bang.

"I had just returned home from work and was conversing with my friends in the comping while my wife and children were inside the house. We heard a loud bang and it was the new flat descending. It was horrifying and I immediately moved my family for fear of the building collapsing on our house which is literally under it" he told howwe.biz.

The neighbor who preferred anonymity told us that the contractor used weak materials especially the airon bars and it was only a matter of time. The police with help from military are at the scene controlling crowds that keep growing by the hour.

Two young men who.were rescued from the building moments after collapse stood and watched in pain as their colleagues were being retrieved lifeless.
The mission to retrieve more bodies is ongoing.
