The Police in Lira are holding seven people following the murder of business woman Sylvia Amol who was reportedly murdered at her home in Gweng-abara village in Adekokwok sub county, Lira District early last month.
Michael Odongo, the North Kyoga Police Spokesperson identifies the suspects as; Bonny Okello Ocen alias Hassan, Denis Ogong, Henry Elim Okello and a brother to the deceased Kenneth Figo Okello. The others are; Tony Okello, Lawrence Oguma and Morris Okello who were arrested after being found with the deceased’s phone.
According to Odongo, the suspects were arrested from a house which they were renting in Ireda Chamber, Adekokwok Sub County in Lira District and several items including a panga and several phones including that of the deceased were recovered from the house.
Police has earlier recovered an AK 47 small machine gun from the scene of crime on the day of the murder.
Odongo says key suspects have already confessed to the crime and appeared before court.
Police notes that Amol was hit by a stray bullet in a scuffle between her son and three assailants who had broken into their home. One assailant identified as Solomon Nyeko, a resident of Lacor in Gulu Municipality was severely hacked with a panga and later died later in hospital.
