Police at Lake Albert, Hoima District have Tuesday morning dispatched a team of marine officers to search for the bodies of two fishermen who drowned last night.
Residents identified the duo as Joseph Jabila 19 and Angomoko Jakwonga 27 both fishermen at Kiryamboga landing site in Tonya parish Buseruka Sub County.
According to the Kiryamboga LCI Chairperson Geoffrey Byensi, the duo’s boat was hit by strong winds forcing it to capsize on Tuesday night.
Byensi added that at the time of the accident, there were three fishermen on the boat but one Jakwonga Openjmungu survived after swimming and was rescued by other fellow fishermen.
However, it was too late to save the others as most fishermen were far away from them.
The Albertine region police spokesperson Julius Hakiza says that a team of marine divers joined local fishermen to search for the bodies.
